What to Empty and Measure Before Dresser Removal

Empty every compartment

Remove clothing, liners, jewelry, paperwork, and items hidden behind drawers. Check the space underneath and the top ledge. The crew should never discover personal or confidential material mid-carry.

Record the useful dimensions

Measure height, width, and depth. Then measure the doorway and the tightest hallway turn. For tall wardrobes, include ceiling height where the piece may need to tilt.

Call out mirrors and loose parts

Tell the provider about glass, attached mirrors, stone tops, removable shelves, and drawers that do not lock. Do not tape directly to delicate finishes. Ask how loose pieces should be secured.

Know when not to lift it yourself

Bulky furniture can block sight lines and create crush or strain risks. Get help or use appropriate equipment rather than trying to pivot a heavy dresser alone.
